MAN DEAD ON ROAD
Discovery Near Pakipaki * MAY BE ACCIDENT VICTIM The body of a man believed to be Frank Wild, an nnemployed shephend, was found lying on the roadside near Pakipaki this morning and the eanse of death has not been ascertained 'definitely. Circumstances point to his having heen the victim of a "hit and run" motorist, but the police are making searching inquiries. The body was first seen at 6.20 o'clock this morning by Mr. Henry W. Cracknell, who waa on hia way from Pakipakki to the Tomoana Freezing Works. Less than half an hour later it was again seen by Mr. Henry Lewis. Clarkv, who was also going to. Tomoana. They reported the matter to the police, who upon their arrival fotuid that the man was dead, and lying on his back on the side of the road. There was blo.od about the head, bnt there were ino apparent marks of external injury. However, oue boot had been obviously wxenched off a foot and the legs of the trousers were. torm The coat, however, was buttoned up. Inquiries have led the police to the belief that the man is Frank Wild, who some time ago was employed in the Porangahau district. It is nnderstood that he was in that district up to Christmas. The police are anxious to have further information concerning the movements of Mr. Wild and ako. whether his body was seen by other people passing along the road. ^ * A post-morHsm examination is to bS held this afternoon and later an inquest will hft conducted.
