P ■ March-Past Omission Explained TOO CL0SE TO BASE
(By Telegraph-
WELLINGTON, Last Night. When the naval squadrons marched jthrough the city to-day they passed the iCenotaph without giving the customaty ;salute, causing some comment from the watching crowds. When questioned the jauthorities explained that the Cenotapl jwas too close to the Governor-General's S&luting base. It. would have been most inc, onvenient jto salute first the Cenotaph and then a jfew paees later the Governor-Generai. The short distance between the two points really prohibited this as muoh as 'it was deeirod to give. both ealutee.
