Napier Prosecutions LORRY EXCEEDS LOAD UMU Esplaining that the driver had taken the load because he was jealous of the reputation of his truck, Mr L. W. Willia appeared ia defence of Robert Holt and Sons, Ltd., in the Napier Magistrate's Court yesterday beiore Mr J, Millor, 8.M,, on a charge of operating a vehicle with a load in exeess of that for which it was licensed. The prosecution was brought on the information of the Main Highways Board traffic inspector, Mr J. H. R. Semple, and tho defendant company was fined £1 10/-, with 10/- costs. Eor driving a motor-eycle while not in pospession of a driver 's licenee John Itobert Harrison, of Napier, storeman, wa« fined 10/-, -with 10A costs. Eailure to report an accident in wliich a boy was slightly injured led to tho appearance of Herbert John Colbert, whp pleaded not guilty,, stating that he did hot think that a graze should be callod an injjury, He was ordered to pav £1 1/- Oourt costs. A chargQ of negligent driving was preferred against Linda Knowles, who pleaded guilty aud was fined £! 10/-, with 10/- costs. Senior-Sergeaut W. Pender stated that Mrs Knowles was driving a ewall car from the directlon of Hastings. It appeared that Bhe was watching an exeursion, train which was legving Napier, and collided with a stationary car. Both she and her mother were injured. iFor the defendaDt, Mr A. H. D. Mayne pleaded that his client, who had been badly injured, could not rememher how the accident occurred. "WiUiam George Nelson, of Napier, was fined 5/- on a voluntaTy appearanco for operating a motor-eycle on the Napier-Palmerston North State highway with a defective warning device.
