Visit from Japan or Canada NOT LIKELY TO EVENTUATE

WELLINGTON, This Day. No tours by Canadian or Japanese Rugby foo/tball teams are likely to eventuate in the Dominion in 1938, according to the annual report of the New Zealand llugby Union. "The conniiiltee has made inquirios regarding tlie matter of cxLendiug au, invitation for a leaiu either : from Canada. or Japan to tour. the Dominion during tlie 1938 aeason," the report says. "The costs of a tour for a party of 27 are, in view of .the present pre^ vailing cunditiona, very high. The actual steamer fares from Canada . are £2122 17/6, while froni Japan. the cost is £2639 5/-, both New Zealand curreucy. In view. of the heavy cost of fares and travel wbile in New Zealand and the doubtful drawing capacity of either of the teams, the committee is of the oplnion that the time is.not yet opportune to exteud an invitation in either case.M
