Nelson Park Grounds To Be Watered « NEW SECRETARY APPOINTED

I management committee of the Hastings Eugby Football Sub-Union met-last evening, Mr. C. H. Bunker presiding over Messrs. J. S. Baker, E. M. Hewitt, J. Heffernan, S. K. Hingston, W. Lochhead, L. Andrews, E. J. Wall, G. Eeeves, Messrs. F. H. Corbin (hon. treasurer) and J. Taylor (secretary pro tem) were also present. I Mr." W. Burnett was appointed hon. secretary, the resignation of Mr. Taylor being accepted with xegret. Mr. A. I Kirkpatrick was appointed to fill the vacancy on the management ' committee. It was decided again to appoint Messrs. J. Dyer and W. Lewis custodians at Nelson Park and the Hi^h School grounds Tespectively. Poukawa School wrote making application for a hall, and this was granted. Arrangements are to be made for the watering of Nelson Park playinggrounds in preparation for the opening of the season next Saturday. A start is to be made with the junior, and if possible the thirds and fourth grades, on April 17." A request from the Hastings and Distriet Progress League that the subunion should arrange a Eugby match, preferably between two college teams, on the day following Coronation Day as part of the borough jubilee eelebrations was held over for consideration at the next meeting. Tha meeting expressed approval of I the idea of interchange between Hastings and Napier of games in all the lower grades along the lines adopted last season. The following sub-eommittee were ! set up: — Classification, Messrs. E. M. Hewitt, C. H. Bunker and W. Lochjhead; grounds and fixtures, Messrs. A. IS. Mclvor, E. J. Wall and W. Burnett; postponement, Messrs. C. H. Bunker, A. E. Mclvor and W. Burnett; seleetors, Messrs. E. J. Wall (thirds) and J. Heffernan (fourths)'.
