Tributes to Mrs. Campbell and Miss R. Martin SUBSCRIBERS* MEETING The annual meeting of subscribers to the Taradale Public Library was held last week. The report showed that a considerable forward movement had been made, especially in the increase of subscribers^ during the year. Special interest had been shown hy the committee in attending to the book i3sue, which had given the utmosi ^atisfactinn to all. Hope was expressed that a greater number of books might be obtained during the coming y'ear. The following committee was electetl for the ensuing year:— Miss M. Matheson, Mrs Gartiy, , Messrs W. G. Jarvis, H. Williams, F. O. Anderson, J. B. Wainscott, R. Willis, J. A. Wilkinsou, F. Wiseuian, R. Brown, a. Blair, T. B. McDonald, and J. Williamson. Mrs R. J. Campbell and .Miss R. MaTtin, who have been members of the committee for the past twelve years, did not desire to be re-elected, In moving a hdarty vote of appreciation to these ladies, Mr Williamson stated that they had been untiring in their support to the library during all those years and had done yeoman service. Ardent readers, with a wide knowledge of books generally, tnoy had been most influential as selectors, and had oeen of the greatest assistance to subscribers and espocially to the committee, Although they were retiring from active service, he felt sure they would still render assistance wherever possible. They were two of the foundation members of the committee who had taken over control of the library at the request of the Town Board. Other members of the committee spoke on similar terms of the signal service rendered by these two ladies. Messrs T. McDonald and J. Williamson were re-elected as chairman and secretary respectively,' and a vote of thanks was accorded to them for past scrvices. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr and Miss Jarvis for their eonstant attontion to the library on three afternoons a week, and to Mr and Mrs Eden, for taking eustody of the kev.
