CRICKET CONCLUDES Decision Under Dead-Heat Rule NAPIER O.B. SECOND The 1936-37 Napier-Hastings senior cricket championship was won on Saturday afternoon - by Technica! O.B. On points this teain tied with Napier H.S.O.B., but under a ruling of the Hawke's Bay Cricket Association Technical O.B. win the championship because on the season' s play they have scored more runs a wicket than H.S.O.B., who become runners-up. The weather was cloudy and at tinies there was a light rainfall on Saturday afternoon, but the wickets in both centres were in good order. Technical O.B. drew with United, who were unable to score sufficient runs to win on the first innings before time was called. Napier H.S.O.B. gained a first-innings victory against Rugby by 10 runs, while Hastings H.S.O.B. accounted for last year's champions, Hastings, on the first innings.
