BOUQUET MAKING SHOWN AT GUILD MEETING
At the monthly meeting of the arts and crafts circle of the Hastings Townswomen's Guild held on Thursday, Mrs L. W. Goldfinch, circle leader, presided and with her was Mrs A. C. A. Hyde, secretary, Mrs A. E. Glenny, president of the guild, and Mrs E. Deans, secretary, were also present. A roll call, "Where I first met my husband,-" proved to be most interesting and amusing, no pennies being eollected as fines x'or non-replies. After discussion it was' decided to commence the meetings by reciting the Women 's Creed, It was aiso decided to have a compotition each month, a small trophy to be awarded the winner. . Mrs A. Clark, Hastings, was then introduced to members and gave a most instructive and delightful demonstration on making a presentation bouquet, the ' flowers used being bella donna lilies and small pom pom dahlias in pastel shades of pink with fronds of maidenhair fern. Mrs Clark expiained minutely each stage in the process of forming the bouquet and gave members many useful bints on decorative work. The bouquet when finished was really beautiful and muck admired, and was presented to Mrs A. O. A. Hyde as a small recognition oi' tho good work she has done as secretary of the circle since its inception. Mrs Clark kindly offered a prize for the best bouquet to be brought to the April meeting which she would be pleased to judge. There would also be a roll call "Home Hints" and a demonstration on smocking. It was decided to have a bring-and-buy stail each month to help the circle funds. Mrs Walker and Mrs Mackay were appointed tea convenors, Mrs Campbell in cliarge of the flowers and Mrs Rood and Mrs Campbell the competitions.
