OVER 3000 VISITORS
Busy Season For Kidnappers Sanctuary BIRDS WILL MIGRATE IN MAY Over 3000 people visited the Bannet sanctuary at Cape Kidnappers for the period from last October, when the season opened, up to last Wednesday, March 31, and 800 permits wero issued hy the ranger at the Clifton Store. That this number would Have been greater had the Clifton beach road been open was the opinion expressed by the ranger, Mr Stanley, when speaking to a Herald-Tribune reporter. The sanctuary will remain open until July 31, and it will then be closed until approximately Labour Day in October, but intending visitors are advised to make the trip before May, a& from then onwards the annual migration of the birds begins. Past experienc© has shown that the birds usually leave at full moon in May, returning at full moon in July. Mr Stanley pointed out that, although the sanctuary was closed to the general public from the end of July, the Sanctuary Board made a special concession to visitors from overseas and other parts of the Dominion, and during this period special permits were obtainable. , The majority of the visitors to the sanctuary chose the Christmas holiday period for their visits, while at Easter visitors from other parts of the Dominion were the principal sightseers. This coming) week-end there is a double-tide during Sunday, so piospective lisitors are advised to commence their trip from Clifton at about 8 a-.m. and thus ensure a full day for the ;rip-
