Marylebone Bowlers on Top PLAY AT AUCKLAND

AUCKLAND, This Day. With aggregate scores exactly equal but with two good wickets down, Postles (12) and Sale (1) resumed the Auckland-Wellington innings against the M.C.C. at ll a.m. Stumps are being drawn at 5 p.m. as the Marylebone team are leaving by the M&riposa tonight en route to England via America. The wicket, which was epvered overnight, was faster than on the preivous days, though the outfield again was affected by rain. The first half -hour play had added 16 runs to the overnight tally of 22 for two — Postles 17, Sale 12. When the score had reached 40 six maidens had been bowled in the first 16 overs. With the total at 46 Sale drove Sinjs to mid-off and, in attempting to run two the Auckland captain was beautifully thrown 'out by Hardstaff — 47/3/24. Sale was then 13 and Bush was the new-comer. He was dropped by the English skipper at silly mid-on off Sims before scoring and nearly run out before notching a single to leg. After being beaten with the previous ball, Bush was caught by Copson straight in front of the wicket half way to the sight-screen. Hook succeeded. Auckland were in a precarious position when Sale was badly beaten by Verity (two for four) after batting confidently— = 53/5/15. Hook (who was joined by G. Wallace) fell when trying to hit one short of length off Sims. — 55/6/2. At -lunch the score was nine wickets for 90.
