WAIROA PIONEERS CELEBRATE THEIR GOLDEN WEDDING
Two of Wairoa 's pioneer settlers, Mr. and Mrs. J. Davies, of Kiwi road, North Clyde, celebrated their golden wedding on Tuesday night. There was a large gathering of relatives, and a few close friends. Mrs. Davies was presented by Mrs. P. Wilson with a beautiful bouquet. The usual toasts were honoured, when reference was made . to . the sterling qualities of the guests, and appi-eeiatio-i of the part they had played in the pioneer days, of which many reaxiniscences were exchanged. Mrs. N. H. Fi^ch several songs. Numerous congratulatory telegrams were read, and some choice presents received. The gathering closed with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne," the many guests as they left wishing Mr. and Mrs. Davies a happy continuation of the married state.
