JEWEL-EMBROIDERED GOWN FOR THE DUCHESS
The Duchess of Gloucester has decided on her gown for the Coronation at Westminsfer Abbey. She will wear' it with her Princess's robe of purple velvet, states the Daily Telegraph. It is to be lavishly embroidered in gold, diamante, and pearls on a creapa satin ground. The intricate work of this Hartnell creation will take weeks to complete. Gold promises to be the favounte choice for the Abbey. Another member of the Royal Family whc has decided on it in preference • tc siiver, white or off-white — the only other colours permitted — is the Marchxoness of Milford Haven. t Ordering day for Coronation gowns at the dressmakers was a busy time. I'eeresses flocked there to cjecide oetails of the superb creations they have chosen. The first important Fitting Week for Abbey clothes was also held recently. Dressmakers are already almost booked up "to capaeity" and are preparing for a long period of overtime. ' Debutantes will now order their gowns for the first Courts of 4 the new reign. Designs, aproved by the King and Queen yesterday, are being displayed at the Lord Chamberlain 's offite. Crystal and pearl embroiBeries are a feature of the Reville models. For the debutante cloud-white silk tulle with these embroideries is isuggested. Gold brocade is the material of one Court gown and train. Crystal flowers trim'the decolletage.
