WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Town Clerk (Mr. E. P. Norman) .announced to-day that Mr. M. S. Duckworth has been appointed Deputy .Town Clerk, a position which has 15een vacant since the appointment of Mr. B. O. Peterson as City Treasurer. Mr. Duckworth commenced his ex•perience id the traffie manager 's oflice of the New Zealand Bailways in Dunedin in 1916, and was transferred to, i the Bailways Head Office in July, 1921.. He was in the Head Office for sonie eix months, and was then appointed secre-' tary to the General Manager (then Mr. B. W, McVilly), continuing in that , oapacity under successive administra-, tions until hc resigned to take up thel position of committee clerk to ,the Wel-j lington City Council. He has also actedi a* secretary to the City and Suburban Water and Highways Boards, and to the Sinking Fund Commissioner
