CRICKET FINAL TO-MORROW
Chances Seem to Favour Technical ' NAPIER OLD B0YS' TASK Cricket iu Napier and Hastings onds for this season after play to-morrow afternoon. Either Technical O.B. jr Napier H.S.O.B. will win the NapierHastings competition, unless there is a tie. The odds appear to be in favour of Technical O.B., however, because, in addition to being one point ahead of Napier Old Boys, they have better chances of gaining a three-point win at the end of the present "series. Napier H.S.O.B., indeed, might find it a diifi--cult task to gain a victory at all, for their opponents, with 161 on the board, have been knoeking down Old Boys ' wickets cheaply. The final series of the 1936-37 competition finds Technical ,O.B. leading the field with 27 points, and Napier HS.O.B. next with 26. Other senior teams have scored the following: United 21, Hastings 17, liugby 12 and HasLiugs H.S.O.B. 5. Batting against United, Technical scored 231 last Saturday, aud. when play begias to-morrow afternoon Uuited will carry on their first innings with one down for 52. Against Napier H.S.O.B., Rugby scored 166, and at stumps OJd Boys were four down for 32. T. Reaney j and B. Mahony, two seasoned batsmeuv will continue their inninus to-morrow, . and to a great extent the fortunes of the match will depend upon tbeir luck against the bowlina. The eombiiiod competition last year was wou by the„Hastings Cricket Club. Despite exccedingly warm weather, a ten-aside Rugby tournament is to bo held at McLean Park, Napier, to-morrow afternoon. The following Saturday, in all probability. the competitions will start.
