The Spanish war is flaring up on the Cordoba front (in the, south, north-east of Cadiz), where the Government forces claim to have the insurgents on the run. The Government forces occupied Yilanueva del Duque, besides Alcaracejos, thns securing two posts of the ntmost strategic importance in their adyance towards Cordoba. Vilanueva was subjected to repeated intense attacks, which appear to have taken the insurgents by surprise, as they retxeated precipitately, leaving over a hundred taken prigoner, includ* ing Italians, and much war material. There were three air raids on Madrid during the night, many "being killed. There is great indignation in British maritime circles. The French boat Cap Fapcon is reported to have been flred on by &n insurgent warship ofl? Santander althongh flying the French flag. The colouts wero clearly painted on the bridge. Hundreds of persons wero killed when rebel planes intensively bombed Durango. A gomb fell on a church, kllling 25 women and wonading others. one hundred •oldiers laid waste ihe market place and blew up a convent, killing 13 and injuring 30 nuns, A JexUit priest celebrating MasS was killed.
