KAIWAKA MEETING

Tho annual meeting of the Kaiwaka Women 's Institute was held in the Kaiwaka Hall on March 19, when Mrs Lee presided over a good attendance of membprs. ■ At the heginning of the meeting Mrs Bain presented Mts Lee, the retiring president, with a bouquet, and all pre* sent expressed' their appreciation of Mrs Leo's work. The business of . the. meeting was then attended to and the fbllowing offlcers for 1937 were eleeted: President, Mrs White, vice-presidents, Mrs Lee, Mis Turhbull; secretary, -Mrs Wflkie? treasurer, 'Mrs . Grindell . (re-elected)'; committee: Mrs Hammond. Mrs McKinnon, Mrs.Sigvertsen, A vote of thanks was .passed to the retiring committee, special' mention being made of the work of Mrs White, secretary, and Mrs Grindell, treasurer. The programme for the year was dis* cussed and it was decided that a dance should be held ehrly in April. The results of the competitions for the day were: Baby's vest for Plunket coiupetition: Mrs Fraser 1,. Mrs Macaulay 2; potatoes; Mrs Macaulay 1, Mrs Hammond 2. The committee for the past year servrd an enjoyable afternoon tea and the meeting closed with the singing of ''God Save the King."
