Remits Discussed COMMUNISTS REJECTED

WELLINGTON, This Day. The Labour Conference, by 498 votes to 14, rejected a proposal for affiliation with the New Zealand Communist Party. A remit urging that candidates should be members of the party for three years instead of two, as at present, was rejected. The conference also rejected a proposal that _ ballot papers at elections should specify the party affiliations of the candidates, but support was given to a proposal that it should be lawful to distribute party tickets outside poliing booths at mnnicipal elections on account of the multiplieity of candidates.
