BROCADED SATIN FOR WEDDING GOWN

HEATON — SMITH Very rich parchmenf brocaded satin was chosen for the lovely wedding gown worn by Joan Enid, only daughter of Mr E. J. Smith, of Waipukurau, and formerly of Hastings, at her marriage to Frank Leonard, third son of Mrs and the late Mr H. B. Heaton, Wolsley street Hastings. White and gold Easter decorations formed a lovely setting in St. Matthew's Church Hastings where the wedding was solemnised and tiny posies of gola iiowers with white satm bows marked the guests pews. The Itev. K. Liggett officiated at the ceremony and Mr C. B. Spinney presided at the organ. /

Th© bride's gowii of brocaded satin was fashioned with a very long train and the corsage had a square neckline in the iront with a spray of orange orosson held in pJace by a brooch Jt rubies and pearls. A standing-up medice collar hnished the back oi the neckline, and she wore a gold locket set with the -83,016 stones, this having been vvorn by her mother. The sleeves were cut full and square at the shoUiders and were tight from th© elbow to wrist. Her veil oi einbroidered tulle, arranged with a lialo of orange blossom and tiny lilies, was woru over tbe face vvhen enteriug the church. She wore cream brocaded satin shoes and carried an, armsliower in cream shades with carnations and *roses, ; Two inaids, Miss Thora Young (chief) and M)ss Joyce Jenkins, attended the bride, wearing beautiful Elizabethan gowns of gold satin. The very fitting skirts had a vandyked join at the waist and were slightly trained. The decolletage wels finished with a high standup cojlar and a posy of vioiets was woro in the front. Williams, of Dannevirke, was, the besf.man and Mr Eric Heaton, the bridegroom's brother, the groomsj man. Messrs N. Binith and S. Small were the ushers and Mr E. J. Smith gave his daughter away. The wedding reception was held at the Itifz tearooms where a cream and gold seheine was carried out in the decorations. The beautiful three-tiered wedding. cake iced in cream with silver favours was ntuch admired, the cake having been iced and decorated by Mr Eric Heaton. The guests were received by tlie bride's father and step-motber, Mr and Mrs E. J. Smith. Mrs Smith wore a model frock of navy "blue with gold and green • beaded embroidery on the fiiU sleeves and fancy jabot. Her navy velour hat was trimmed with a bright quill and she carried a posy of red roses and caruations. Mrs Heatonj the ' bridegroom's mother, wore a frock of floral silk in shades of cherry, blue, and white on a black 'ground, skunk stole and black velonr hat with a cherry quill. Her flowers were autumn tinted roses and miniature dahlias. When the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon, a motor tour in the North, the bride travelled in .a frock of coronation blue sheer .wool, the corsage slashed to show fine pleating hnd , caugkt with silver tiligree heart-shaped ciasps. , Her lido blue rain-spotted yelour coat had a large skunk fur coilar and she wore a smart biu© fejt hat with quill trimming. Among the many beautiful wedding presents were presentations to botli the bride and bridegroom. The bride who was a meinber of the staff of Messrs Westermau's received a brass lire screen from the staff and au exderdown from the timi. The bridegroom received a cbeque from his firiu, Messrs Duff and: Averill, and an oak dinner waggon from the ofiicers and members of the .Kahuranaki Ilebecca Lodge. Among the guests were: Mrs 11. Smith, aunt of the bride, wore a green ensembie with accessories to tone. Mi's J-1'. T. Griffin, sister of the bridegroom, wore a tailored eostume - of navy blue with fine pin stripe, light turquoise blue biouse and navy hat and accessories. Mrs J . M.
