MAIDS IN APPLE GREEN AND MAUVE GOWNS
GIRVAN — CLIFTON WEDDING A colour scheme of apple green and orchid mauve was chosen by the bride for her attendants at the wedding of Nola Liege, younger daughter of Mrs. G. SuJlivan, Christchurch, and the late Mr. A. M. Clifton, Wanganui, and James, second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Girvan, .Napier. Lovely bowls " of pink and mauve asters and mauve Michaelmas daisies were arranged in the Methodist Church, Hastings, for the wedding and from an archway was suspended a white wedding bell. The Bev. R. B. Gosnell officiated at the ceremony and Miss E. Napier played the wedding music. The bridal group was a particularly dainty one as the bride, her aiaids and flower-girl were all gowned in organdie net mounted on satin. The bride's gown was in an oif-white shade, the slightly trained skirt being outlinod with circular motifs of net centred with tiny blue and pink flowers. Similar motifs outlined the neck and as the gown was sleeveless long white lace mittens were worn. The belt at the waist was clasped at the back with a eircle of richlicu peaxls and she woro long white lace mittens. Her lovely veil was of fino double French tulle worn with a Juliet cape of Brussels lace with orange blossom at the back and each side and was lent by Mr$. Selwyn Riekey, of Rotorua. She carried a bridal sheaf of white roses, car-
\ uationa and wood anemones with touches of pink. The two maids were Miss Eileen Clifton (chief), and Miss Pat McKay, cousins o£ the bride. They wero gowned alike in apple-green organdie net over satin with a vandyked frill at the hem and a wing-effect finishing the bodice. At each side of the square neck were frilled motifs finished with tiny mauve flowers and silver leaves. Tiny green flowers formed their headband and silver shoes were worn and each maid carried a sheaf in mauve and pink shades with carnations, gladioli and dahlias with green streamers. Little Pamela Jones, the bride's niece, and Judith Parkhill, were dainty fiower-girls in their gowns of mauve net over satin with cireles of frills at the hem centred with tiny flowers and handpainted with silver. Silver ribbon finished the waist and head-bands of mauve flowers were worn, Their shoes were silver and each carried a pink and mauve posy. Mr. Walter Powers was tho best man and Mr. Noel Girvan, the bridegroom's brother, was the groomsman. The bride was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. Hugh Jones. The wedding reception was held at the Manhattan Roof Gardens where about 60 guests were entertained. The handsome tkree-tiered wedding cake which stood in the centre of the bridal table was cnade by the bride's mother. The guests were received. by Mrs. G. Sullivan who wore a blaek self-striped tailored costume with white blouse and skunk stole. Her black cire straw hat was trimmed with scarlet flowers and carried a scarlet posy. Mrs. J. Girvan, the bridegroom's mother, wore a brown ensemble with brown velour hat finished with a bright quill and fur neeklet. Her posy was composed of autumn tinted flowers. When the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon motor tour toWanganui and Auckland the bride travelled in a frock of brown crepebacked satin with insets of net appliqued with satin at the neck and full sleeves. She wore a very sjnart brown velour hat, brown suede ' gloves' and shoes and also a half length brown peschanaki coat, the bridegroom's gift. His gifts to the bridesmaids were gold signet rings. The relatives present were: Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Jones, brother-in-law and sister of the bride, Mrs. McKay, Mrs. Aitken (Wellington), Miss E. Clifton, Mr. and Mrs. E. Clifton, Mrs. W. Powers, Mr. -and Mrs, S. Cassin, Mr. and Mrs. Stringer, Miss P. and Master Royce Stringer (Wanganui), Mr. Neil Fletcher (Wanganui), Captain and Mrs. Martin, Messrs. C. and E. Girvan, Mr. C. McKay, Mr. W. Dale, Mrs. and Miss Myra Banks.
