Man About io Jump from Grafton Bridge INTENT DENIED

AUCKLAND, March 29. When an undertaking was given by his brother to take care of him, William Henry Lambert, aged 60, a labourer, was convicted and diseharged by Mr W. R. McLean, S.M., on the charge of attempting to commit suicide. A motorist gave evidence that when i crossing the Grafton Bridge on Saturday evening he saw accnsed in an atti- . tude suggesting that he was about to jump from the bridge. Accused, who was under the influence of liquor, said: "I am going over the edge." Witness persuaded accused to walk along thc bridge until they met a cOnstable. Lambert denied the charge, stating that ho was me>ely looking over the rail at work being done to the bridge below. i
