Warm Eulogy of Sister Williams's Services DEVOTED WORK After a numbei; of years of very lionourable service to the people of Hastings and ihe surrounding districts, Sister Williarus bas resigned from the position of matron of Roystop. Hospital to enter private practice jn Hastings. On WedneBday afternoon at the Hawke's Bay Farmers' Tearooms the opportunity was taken by ihe members of the management committee, supporters of the hospital and many oi Sister Williams's friends to wish her every success in her new sphere and to express appreciation of .the fine work she had done in her association with lioyston Hospital. Mr A. I. Rainbow, chairman of the management committee, after briefly reviewing' th© history of Royston, paid tribute to the untiring and devoted service givein not only the hospital but the people of the town and district by Sister Wiiliams. "We regret very much the fact , that she is leaving us," he said, "but jvo are glad to know that she will stiil be Temaining in Hastings and carrying on another branch of her profession. I know, also, that we feel that, although we are losing Sister Wiiliams, we are indeed fortunat© to have filled her place .with Sister Sellars, who is so well-known, loved and respecied by reason of her long and honourable servic© with the Memorial Hospital." The Mayor, Mr G. A. Maddison, spoke of the great services giyen to Hastings by Royston at the time of the earthquake under the heroic management of Sister Wiiliams. He did not think that this work had ever received due consideration, and he was glad, as chief citizen of Hastings, to convey to Sister Wiiliams the townspecple's appreciation of her wonderful work at that time. He felt that she had set a great example by her devoted and self-sacrificing work. Dr H. M. Wilson voiced the regret of the medical profession at the retirement of Sister Wiiliams from the hospital where, he said, she had done such skilled and devoted work. He wished her every success and happiness in her future life On behalf of the doctors and Iay members of the management committee be presented Sister Wiiliams with a cheque and asked her to purchase something which would remind her of her association with Royston. Mr H. M. Campbell replied en be- , half of Sister Wiiliams and expressed her heartfelt jbhanks for the tributes that Iwi been paid her.
