Miss Jean Hocking, Wairoa, is the guest of Mrs P. R. Stevens, Gisborne, during the Easter holidays. Miss Wilson, Brisbane, Australia, is the guest of Mr and Mrs M. H. Collins. Hatumna. Miss Valerie Delautour is spending the Easter holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs H. D. Delautour, at Te Ariki, Wairoa. Mr and Mrs Peter Delautour, Bushmere, Wairoa, with the latter's mother, Mrs H. Paeke, have returned from a visit to Hastings. Mrs Sanderson and Misfc Zohrab, Wellington, who have been visiting Mr and Mrs E. A. King, Whetukura, have returned home. Fireman A. H. Scherf is representing the Waipukurau Fire Brigade at the United District Fire Brigade' Conference at Lower Hutt. Fireman Scherf, who is now a viec-president of the association ,is standing for re-election. Foreman A. S. Annand, who is the present secretary of the association, Superintendent J. A. Chambers, who is treasurer, and "Mr A. C. Holms, J.P., who is the auditor, have been reelected unopposed. Mr, Mrs and Miss Morton, who are leaving Takapau this month, were presented with parting mementoes at the conclusion of the Takapau Defence Club's weekly shoot. The Morton family have been intimately connected with the Rifle Club, and Mr Morton for many years had occupied the office of president, Mrs Morton received a crystal vase, Mr Morton a race stick, and Miss Morton a cup, saucer and plate. Mr and Mrs L. R. Cutforth, who are leaving Waipukurau for Tauranga, where Mr Cutforth will take a position under the Auckland Education Board, were farewelled at afternoon tea by members of the staff of the Waipukurau High Schobl and representatives of the Home and School League and tho school committee. A presentation of a bedroom cloek was made. Mr V. Parsons, speaking on behalf of the staff, and the school committee in the unavoidable absence of Mr G *F. Haycock, said he could not speak too highly of Mr Cutforth 's services during his long association with the school, where he nad been teaching for the last ten years in which period he had three times held the position of acting headmaster, and held it capably. On behalf of the Home and School League, Mr H. A. Martin wished Mr Cutforth success and future happiness.
