NEVER TO RETURN TO HOLLYWOOD
"No matter wwbat bappens, I will never Teturn to Hollywood," Mr. Hugb I Walpole, tbe novelist, told a London writer. Mr. Walpole, wbo bas spent mucb of him time during tbe last tbree yeras on film work in Hollywood, added: "I find it impossible to work under tbe eonditions wbicb film production imposes, For weeks you do notbing, and tbat I find depression in tbe e>treme. Tben comes a burst of frantic work at sucb bigb pressure tbat it is impossible to do x-.be's best." In two years, be said, be was six montbs idle. Mr. Walpole was one of tbe speakers Eekman, junr., to Mr. George Cukor, at a luncbeon given by Mr. Sam tbe director of "David Copperfield," "Bomeo and Juliet" and other notable successes. Tbere was Iaughter wben Mr. Walpole said tbat Mr. Cukor was at onee remorselessly matter-of-fact and a poet, and tbat be treated tbe author ot every variety of insult, but was otherwis® tbe kindest creature in tbe world.
