NAPIER CLUB DRAW
The Napier Golf Club's Easter tournament beginis on the Waiohiki links at 9 a.m. to-morrow, when two qualif ying rounds for the Hawke 's Bay Easter ehampionship will be played. Exceilent entries have been received, there being many prominent visiting players taking part. Following is the draw. bas and Tail Light were in that order after traversing a mile in 1.43 3-5. Thq j last half mile took 51 2-5secs., and Laughing Lass was doing it well. Kelly waa going nicely beside Gay Broney (Fearn) at the end of seven furlongs, I which took 1.29 4-5,. the first half-mile being covered in SOjfcsecs. Bass joined them at the. six furl'ong post, and waa j several lengths away, his time being 1.18 2-5. King Neptune (Wiggins) with Jack Tar (Morris) to assist him over the last fiix furlongs, completed a mile in 1.44, the final six furlongs taking 1.17 4-5. They were about on terms at the post. Mandamus impressed more than Missal over a round, which took 2.11 1 2-5, the last seven furlongs taking 1.36 1-5. Francis Drake was nearly two lengths ahead of Haut Monde after sprinting five furlongs in 1.2. They went very fast early, registering 23 4-5 secs. for the initial two furlongs, and Francis Drake did his work attractively. Crooning completed a seven-furlong task in 1.31 2-5. This mare is in capital condition for her engagement on Saturday. Valpai went away from the mile post and ran his last seven furlongs in 1.32 3-5. Prince Hangi joined him at the six-furlong) post, and was doing better | at the finish, his time being 1.19 1-5.
On the Tan Track. Valmint ran six furlongs in 1.19, taking 52 3-5secs. for the last half mile, beating his companion, Lady De. i'oe, by a good margin. Leo Colossus was sent over four hurdles in company with Black Marlin. They jumped safely until the last obstacle, which Black Marlin hit and came to grief. His rider T. Williams, was laid out for some time and later his collarbone was found to be dislocated, while he als0 had abrasions of the .head. . Billy Boy and. Forest Glow were associated in a sc-hool over the steeplechase course. They had plenty of pace on, and both horses jumped attra'ctively until they reached the stone wall the second time, where Forest Glow got in . close and ' hit it' hardSinking Fund was withdrawn ' from the Easter Handicap at 9.30 this morning.
