Norsewood FarmersAbout 17 members of the Norsewood foung Farmers' Club and several members of 'the Farmers' Union attended a field day at the Plant Research S£ation and also the Seed Testing Instifcute at Massey College. Matamau BasKetball Club. The annual meeting of the Matamau Basketball-Glub was well attended. Officers re-elected were: — President, Mr T. Bedingfield ; vice-presidents, Messrs Sattrup, A. Jackson, C. Sisson, J. Peters, L. G. Beaumont, W. H. Smith. Miss Zilph Corbishley resigned from the secretaryship and Miss Verna Anderson. was appointed. Miss * Tup Bedingfield was unanimously re-elected eaptain and Miss Zilph Corbishley vicecaptain. Mrs Sisson is retiring from an active part in the club this year. She flas done invaluable work for it practically since it began. Miss Tup Bedingfield was elected chairwoman and Miss Myra Irwin appointed delegate to meetings in town. A Fow! and A Car. An amusiiig incident occurred at the Weber Sports Club's dance. A wellknown settler of the district arrived in the township with an old black hen perched on the rear bumper of his car uuknown to him. Much merriment was caused when the hall was reachcd, but the old fowl was not disturbed, saw the dance out, and returaed home none the worse for its swift passagie in and out from Weber. Waipawa Residents Farewelled. Misses Joan and Olive Fissenden, who will leave Waipawa 'shortly to take up residence in Auckland were farewelled by a happy gathering in the Waipawa Methodist Church by members of the Methodist Girls' Guild. Mrs J- P. Walker *presented each of th" departing members with a book and a .music album, e'xpressing regret that the time should have coiue for them to leave Waipawa aud wishing them happiness in their new home. Tho eveniug passed quickly with games and competitions, the winners being Misses E. Bott and A. Miller. Elocutionary items were given by Mrs Walker.
