BONS AND EASTER EGGS
Brisk Business During Past FewDays JPreparations for the cOnsumption of approximately 25,000 hot-cross buns and aome thousands of Easter eggs have kept bakers and confectioners busy in Hastings during the past few days. Today saw the final purehase of these sea•onal viands, which are an outward gymbol of the Easter period, and good business was recorded in the town. In order that the large lmmber of buns sliould be available, bakers were compslled to have up to four spociul bakings and to engage extra. labour, and even then some firms found that they were unable to cope with all the orders received, and had to turn down additional business. This year has seen brisk business in Easter eggs, but it was noticeable in town this morning that there were fewer children engaged in Easter-egg shopping, for which the infantile paralysis restrictions are responsible. However, parents have faced up to their duty nobly, and fathers and mothcrs could be seen selecting suitable eggs for the various members of their families. Eggs are again of varied sizes and design. Small and large, plain and coloured, this year}s eggs have been a feature of many window displays in the town, a raiute reminder that Easter is with us again.
