(By Telegraph-
MASTERTON, Last Night. The inaction of the Government ia giving effect to the promises made by Ministers to a Wairarapa deputation which waited on them last May relative to improved railway facilities over the Rimutakas was discussed by the Masterton Ohamber of Commerce to-day when it was decided to cali a district conference with which Wellington bodies could beinvitedto be associated to enter a protest. "We have a good case," said Mr. T. Jordan, Mayor of Masterton, "and all three Ministers who wero interviewed admitted our caso. We are entitled to protest against the treatment now given to ua . by the Ministers and to emphasise the contrast betwefen that treat> meut and the promises made to the deputation in May." It was stated that although the deputation was assured that a report on the project wOuld be obtained by the Gov- ! ernment all efforts since to obtain & isatisfactory reply from the Prime Minister or his Ministers had been fruitless. It was emphatically stated that the Government 's promises to the deputation had not been kept.
