W.D.F.U. MEETS

The monthly meeting of the Women's Division of the JFarmers' Union, was held in their room on Wednesday, Mrs J. H- Joll presiding over a large attendance of members and friends- After reciting the Creed, the usual business was transaoted. Mrs Joll thanked those who had fielped to make the recent flower show the success it undoubtedly was, especially members who had exhibited, the stewards who a&sisted and the judges, whose decisions were so favourably received. The prize-winners were then presented with trophies which they had won, each being heartily applauded. Miss M. Joll then gave a most interesting demonstration on making a pine-needl© basket, each step * being being explained as Miss Joll proceeded with the making of the basket, a finished one on view being very much admired. Miss Joll was heartily thanked. The competitions, judged by Mrs Goldfinch and Mrs Doak, resulted: — Bran biscuits, Mrs J. H. Joll 1 and 3, and Mrs McLennan 2. Best flower in the garden, Mrs McLennan 1, Miss Ebbett 2. The competition for April will be a plate of sbortbread. Members were especially asked to attend tbe annual meeting in April when the election of officers and committee will take place. A delicious tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames McKinley. McKeen and Elliott.
