WOMEN'S INSTITUTES
Meeting at Otane The annual general meeting of the Otane Women 's Institute was held on Friday afternoon, Mrs. R. H. Tod presiding over an atendance of 50 members. The xeport and balance-sheet were read and adopted, the latter showing a very satisfactory credit balance. A vote of thanks was accorded the Press. Mrs. R. H. Tod was unanimously reelected president, members e^fressing appreciation of her work and interest in the Institute. The following committee were elected: — Mesdames Harbottle, A. Bull, Voyce, Thomas, Arnott, Spargo, senr., F. Smith, MacDougall and Collins. Mrs. Collins was Teelected secretary, and Mrs. Harbottle treasurer. A vote of thanks was passed to the tellers, Messrs. Roach and Tod, and the auditor, Mr. Roach. Mesdames Collins and Germain were appointed delegates to the Federation meeting to be held in Waipukurau. It was decided to form a St. John's Ambulance class in Otane. Four woollen garments were presented to new babies. Mrs. Craig, Cambridge, gave a very interesting address on the work of ihe Institute in the Waikato, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. A delicious afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames White, Wedd, senr., Wedd, junr., Trevena and A. Watts. The winners of the competitions were: Flowers, Mrs. Douglas 1, Mrs. A. Bull 2; sweets, Mrs. Roach 1, Mrs. Spargo, junr., 2. The singing of the National Anthem brought a very pleasant and interesting afternoon to a close.
