Annual Meeting Held

WAIPUKURAU, This Day. Members ' subscriptions we^e increasod by balf a guinea at the largely attended annual meeting of the Waipukurau Golf Club last night. In moving that the annual subscription be increased by half a guinea, the president, Mr. A. M. Johnstone, stressed the necessity of the move and gave a brief outline of how the expenses had increased in recent years. Mr. W. B. Johanson, whp supported him, said that although he had originally opposed the move he now saw the absolute necessity for it. "There is no alternative but to raise our subseription rates if we want to pay our way," he said. "We have got to stand on our own feet some time and. can't live on the milk bottle all our lives." The motion was carried by a large majority. A cup was presented for competition by the members of the sfcafiC* of the Piiblic Trust in appreciation of the oiany privileges the club had given them in past years. The meeting »eeommended that the incoming committee should consider proposals to abolish family tickets, to mix the players more in the various competitions played by club members, and to consider. the possibility of introducing a club handieap championship event. On the motion of the president it was decided that October 31 be the end of the financial year and that in future the annual meeting of the club be held in FTovember or December. It was further decided to hold the opening day on Sunday, April 4. The retiring secretary, Mr. W. B. Johanson, was granted an honorarium of 15 guineas. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:— -President, Mr. A. M. Johnstone; vice-presidents, Messrs. F. A. G. Dunn and J. E. Reid; honorary secretary, Mr. G. E. Styles; captain, Mr. P. Peacock; committee, Messrs. V. H. Bradley, G. G. Speedy, B. W. Johanson, J. G. Stewart, and L. Beachen; honorary auditor, Mr. C. K. Moore. New members were elected as follow: Mr. and Mrs. V. Parsons, Mr. and Mrs. J. Kemp, Mr. and Mrs. J. Kendall, Mrs. H. L. Wilson, Messrs. H. G. Monrad, Carlson, T. Willis, McCaskill, B. Atkins (jnr.), N. Jamieson, J. Harrison, C. R. Gardiner, J. Buchanan, M. Heise, and C. B. Ingles.
