OFF-WHITE CHANTILLY LACE FOR BRIDE'S GOWN
Thompson — Geake Crystal vases of pink bellodonna lilies, asters, and dahlias and an arch of shaded pink asters wer© arranged in the Methodist Church, Hastings, for the wedding last evening of Nola May, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs S. J. Geake, Heretaunga street, Hastings, and Kendall, second son of Mr and Mrs T. H. Thompson, Frederick street, Hastings. The Rev. R. B. Gosn t.i officiated at the ceremony during which Miss E. Napier presided at the organ. The congregation joined in the singing of "The Voice That Breathed O'er Eden," and during the signing of the register a beautiful solo "Bless This House," was sung by Miss Laurel Curry. The bride looked very charming and dainty as she entered the church with her father. Her gown was of off-white chantilly lace monnted on taffeta, the skirt having inset godets of stiffened net edged ivith a tiny vandyked.ruchmg of velvet ribbon while circles of frills were appliqued on each godet, each centred with an orange blossom bud matching that at the top of the godet. The square neckline was edged with velvet and the long sleeves were full at the wrist and finished with appliqued net to m&tch the skirt. A girdle defined the waistline and she wore enibossed velvet shoes and long kind gloves shirred from wrist to elbow. • The brlde's veil of softest tulle which had been worn by her mother was arranged with a halo of orange blossom buds and she carried an exquisitely embossed handkerchief which had been made byJier grandmother, Mrs L. P. Hansen, for her own wedding day, Her ilowers weare in shades of palest pink and white, rosebuds, carnations, gerberas arranged as a sheaf with maidcnhair fern. Two little flower girls in apricot taffeta and a bridesmaid in leaibud green chilfon velvet attended the bride. The older maid was the bride' s sister. Th»» rxlna Geake, whose gown was fashioned with a high silver collar with revers at the back and tiny buttons to the waist where a spray of silver sequin flowexs hnished the beit. The long full sleeves were slashed at the wrist and lined with silver. She wore a halo of silver iarne and silver kid sandals. Her sheaf was composed of fiowers similiar to the bride' s with deeper touches of pink. The little maids, Cherry Shanahan and Ngaire Leathley (Palmerston (Nortli), wore f rocks of pink tafEeta with a pleated frill at the hem, pleated collar and epaulettes. Each maid wore a bandeau of silver leaves, silver shoes and carried a basket of lovely deep pink dahlia3, smnia-j and ferns. Their presents from the bridegroom were crystal necklaces and to the bridesmaid a crystal powder bowl. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr NormaU Wattie. Eolipwing the ceremony a reception was heid at the Friendly Society Hall, where the guests were received by the bride' s parents'assisted by the parents of the bridegroom. Mrs S. J. Geak© wore a gown of autumn shaded floral silk, the eowl collar edged with kilting and brown* fiowers at the neck. Her leghorn picture hat was line^ijnder the brim with brown. and was trimmed with tiny fiowers to match her gown. She carried a posy of deep gold and bronze fiowers. *Mrs T. H. Thompson wore an ensemble of black mariette, the fiowers at the neck being lined with white. Her black hat had touches of white and she carried a posy in shades of pink, all the bouquets having been made by the bride' s annt, Mrs R. Hansen and Mrs R. Shanahan. The reception was a very jolly one and all the usual toasts were honoured. The three-tiered wedding cake which was made and presented to tlie bride by her aunt and uncle, Mr and Mrs V. Hansen, of Clive, was niost beautifully iced and deeorated with tiny silver favours. VVhen the brid© and bridegroom left for their honeymoon in the Soutli the bride travelled jn a brown tailored costume Worn with a lemon crepe-de-chine fagotted blouse and very smart brown cire straw hat. She wore brown suede shoes and gloves and carried a brown handbag. Among the guests at the wedding was the bride's- grandmother, Mrs L. P. Hansen, who wore a black and white ensemble and carried a posy of palest pink and white fiowers.
