Shield Handed Over To Hastings Club

WAIPUKURAU, This Day. On Saturday, Waipukurau was to have had the pleasure of receiving an official rink from the H.B. Bowling Oentre but, owing to speeial circum3tances, this did not eventuate. However, the Napier Club kindly supplied a rink in its place. Th© Hastings Club was represented by three rinks, and advantage of this occasion was taken by the Waipukurau Club to express its feongratulations to the Hastings Club on its fine performance in winning the District Shield for the season 1930-37, and as last year's holaers to hand over to the Hastings Club this coveted trophy. The visitors and home players enjoyed a very fine afternoon 's bowling. The results of games played are as follows:— Napier: Corne, Houseman, Cooke, Belcher 28; Waipukurau: Jones, Smart, Townsend, Martin 34. Hastings: Olaughton, Hampton, Davidson, Kriise 24; Waipukurau: Turner, Browne, Petrick, Haldane 15. Hastings: Douthwaite, Wilson, Graham, Bennett 15; Waipukurau: Bradley, Williams, Cutforth, White 23. Club Games. Hitchens, Chambers, Meredith 24; Moorhead, Ward, Clarkson 20.
