CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

"Matter" was the subject of the lesson-sermon in all Churehes of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, March 21. The Golden Text was Isaiah 43rl2, "I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among yqu; therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God." Among the citati.ons which eomprised the lesson-sermon were the following from the Bible, "Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat: And did ajl tlrink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ." (I Cor. 10:1,3,4.). Also the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, ' ' Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures ' ' by Mary Baker Eddy, ' ' Tha supposition that life, substance, and intelligence are in matter, or of it, is an error. Matter is neither a thing nor a person, but merely the objective supposition of Spirit 's opposite. The five material senses testify to truth and error as united in a mind both good and evil. Their false evidence will finally yield to Truth, — to the reeognition of Spirit and of thc spiritual creation." (p. 287).
