ROLL INCREASE
Napier Intermediate School Napier 's Intermediate School has enjoyed a substantial increase in enrolment this year, the present toII being over 430. Commenting on this faet at yesterday's meeting of the *Hawke's Bay Education Board, the secretajy, Mr W, L. Dunn, said; "It will be Teeollected that last year arrangements were made for staffing in expectatian that all the f orm I, and II. pupils frpm Te Awa and Port Ahuriri would be attending, and the department 's special approval had to b- obtained for the retention of this staff. In view of the substantial in» crease in the roll number this year, however, the staff now corresponds to the sehedule staff for the grade of the school. The number of new pupils this year from other than contributing schools is 31, made up as follo.ws: Te Awa 16, Port Ahuriri nine, and Taradale six," "It is interesting to note that iD stadnard 6 at Te Awa there are only 12 pupils, and in standard 6 at Port Ahuriri there are only 10," commented the chairman, Mr G. A. Maddison. "It seems evident that those two schools are making use of the Intermediate School very freely. " Mr J. S. Wauehop thought that the attention of parents should be drawn to that fact. He put his suggestion in fhe form of a motion, which was seconded by Mr Maddison and caxried,
