Matamau Cricket. The friendly cricket matches played by young) people lately have given rise to the desire to have a properly-regu-lated control o-f the game, and with that end in view a number of enthusi- » asts held a meeting, presided over by Mr L- G. Beaumont, when it was decided to form a cricket club, not so much for what can be done during the remainder of the present season, but so that matters can be ladd in train for next season, and the necessary gear procured. The following officials were elected: — President, Mr W. Sattrup ; vice-presidents, Messrs W. H. Smith, J. A. Stratford, J. Peters, B. Sergeant, B. Gunderson, W. Paiish, E. O'Malley, G- Drew, W. Andrews, J. Corbishley, T- Carr, C. Gibson, G. A. France, E. Thorbum and P. Murphy ; secretary and trea-surer, Mr H. Corbishley ; management committee, Messrs L. G. Beaumont (chair), C. Hearfield, D. Stratford, G. Peters and the 6ecretary. Thp subscription was fixed at 2/6, and boys under 14 1/-. Waipawa Court. 'The monthly sitting of the Waipawa Magistrate's Court, held yesierday before Mr J- Miller, S.M., was short, most of the cases set down for hearing having been adjourned. The following judgiments wer© entered: — Bryant and Co., Ltd. v W. Moroney £2 17/-, costs £1 3/6; T. J. Dallas v. L. E. Booth. claim 12/6, costs 10/-. . Waipawa Llcenslng. The quarterly meeting of the Wai- ! pawa Licensing Committee was held ' in the Oourthouse, Waipawa, yesterr day, Mr C. H. Oritchley being elected to the chair in the absence of the l chairman, Mr J. Miller, 9.M. Otheis present were Messrs H. T. Limbrick, W. G. Bryce and J. Wharmby. Police | reports in all cases were satisfactory. j A transfer of the licence of the Junction Hotet, Norsewood, from F. Newrick to E. O. Dunn, was granted. Tennls at Waipukurau. At a special meeting of the Waipukurau Lawn Tennis Club it was decided to hold the annual ball at the end o£ May and the final day for the tennis tournament prize-giving in April. Misses Lovell Smith, H- Mqorehead, P. Clark, H. Hunter, S. McLaughlan, N. Marshall, and Mrs J. A. McLean, who were present, were appointed a special committee, with power to add, to meet the ladies' committee of the club on May 4 to complete detailsWaipawa Bowling. The Brewer Buttona have again changed hands at Waipawa, the holders, Carne and Parkin, after withstanding several challenges, meeting defeat at th© hands of Dunkin and. Petherick by 15 points to 12.
