Waipukurau Gathering The annual meeting of the Waipukurau Women 's Institute was held in the Masonic Hall, Waipukurau, on Tuesday afternoon, Mrs H. Duckworth presiding over an excellent attendance. The meeting opened with the A.spirations. Arrangements were made for the annual Southern Hawke's Bay Federation meeting, which is to be held in Waipukurau in April, and Mesdames H. Duckworth and Perkins were the delegates appointed to represent the Wai- 1 pukurau Institute. An invitatioh was I received to the Tikokino Institute { birthday. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted, both proving most satisfactory. The president 's (Mrs Duckworth 's) address was brief. It eontained a plea for still greater cooper ation at the monthly meetings. She extended thanks to all the ladies who had assisted during the year and to those who had helped at the Waipukurau A. a.nd P. Show. The following eominittee for the ensuing year was elected: Mesdames E. J. Turner, W. Pendray, G. Bromell, W. Turner, E. Griffiths, E. Perkins, J. Dunlop, C. Scherf, H. M. Kerr, G. Wiggins, J. Ilindman, J. A. Brown, Miss M. Peterson ; president, Mrs H. Duckworth I (pro tein); secretary, Mrs F. Fraser (re-elected). The results of the competitions for the day were: — Asters: Mrs Bromell 1, Mrs Duckworth 2, Mrs Fraser 3. Bottled fruit: Miss Bayliss 1, Mrs Peterson 2, Mrs Fraser 3. I New members elected were Mesdames E. E. Trieker, Taylor, Ross. Wallis, Lewis, Little. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames J. Dunlojf, E. Perkins, G. T. Davey and Miss Wilson. |
