JAPANESE ATHLETES
To-night's Napier Programme Two events wh'ich may make athletic history for Hawke's Bay, aud possibly for New Zealand also, will take place on McLean Park, Napier, to-nigbt- At 6.30 p.m. Ian DriScoll will make another official attempt to break tbe New Zealand two-miles walk record put up by A. Brady, of Auckland. Driscoll has already beaten th;S time by about Ssecs. on March 4, but the attempt was not an official oue, hence the present attempt. At 8.15 the Japanese distance runner Murakoso will try and beat Randolph Rose'a timo of 9min. 20sec®. for the two miie ruu, which is at present the New Zealand record for that distance. A full programme of 15 other event® with tho Japauese jumper Togami takiug part should prove a veritable fea«t of sport. A big crowd is auticipated. At 6-30 p.m. also Togami will make an attempt to beat the long jump record.
