Ambrose Palmer Badly Batters Le Gans

INVERCARGILL, Last Night. The professional heavyweight boxing contest to-night between Ambrose Palmer (12.9) Australia, and Lo Gans (12.10) of America, was won by Palmer after five rounds, De Gans T6tiring with a bad cut over the right eys. Palmer was declared the winner oa » technical knock out. The five touqds were marked by fast and furious boxing in which De Gans suffered enough punishment for any man to throw in the -towel. Palmer was in great form, excelling at close work and his display was Telished by the crowd. In a preliminary professional welterweight contest Stan Jenkin (10.1) of Oamaru, beat Jack Reidy (10.5) of Invercargill, on points.
