ATHLETIC SUCCESSES
H.B. Performers v at N.Z. Championships The Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay Centre athletes acquitted themselves remarkably well at the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association's championship meeting at Auckland on Friday and Saturday. This centre won six championships, being equal with Auckland in number of championship wins, while Otago had five championship wins, but other points gave them a lead in the aggregate for the meeting. Had Frank Sharpley been :vle to produce his best form, probably both the 120 and 220 yards hurdles championships would have come to Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay centre. As it was, this centre was a good third in the aggregate points and won the Speight Cup for the parade. In the 100 yards championship the result of the photograph at the finish, when developed, reversed the judge 's decision and gave second place to G. Quinn, of this centre, who thus gained second place in both the 100 yards and 220 yards championships.
