EASTER SPORTS
New Grounds at Clive The recently acquired sports ground at Clive is to be the scene of a* great sports gathering on Easter Monday, and gatrons who attend this function will probably receive a great surprise when they find the improvements which have been made to a ground which in the past has perhaps escaped the notice of the majority of people. The ground is situated on the Haumoana side of the river at Clive, and a statt was made yesterday with the clearing of the lescue which coyers the area, and when this has been completed, there will be avajlable a full track for all the events which are on the programme, as well as an oval for the horse events, There will also be a track ready for the motor cycle dirt track racing, and as may be seen from the programme, which is published in this issue, a very eomprehensive attraction of sports will be presented. A feature of the gathering will be the attendance of the Maori canoe hurdlers from the Waikato, and in this connectioUj the clearing of the river bank provides a fnll view almos(; from the mouth up to beyond the bridge, and it is stated that this will provide a view equal to anything in the Dominion, and far superior to that which prevails at Ngaruawahia, which is the home of these canoe races. With an abundance of picnio spots, safe bathing and other faeilities which are offered, there is every reason to expeot the sports to beeome one of the major attractions of the Easter period.
