H.B. CHILDREN'S HOME

Annual Appeal This Week Friday and Saturday, March 19 and 20, have been selected as- the ofdcial dates for the forty-fourth annual appeal of the Hawke's Bay Children 's Home, but donations will be gladly accepted and acknowledged before and after. The trustees are asking the residents of the provincial distriet of Hawke's Bay to provide the sum of £1500 to enable them to care for and provide for the 110 children, in the homes. The children in the care of thetrustees range from tiny tots of four years of age to senior children of sixteen years. The maintenance of this large family involves heavy expenditure, but sympathisers have in the past provided the essential funds and it is confidently anticipated when this appeal eomes to their notice there will be again a ready response. The improve* ment in prices which has been experienced this season has had a generally beneficial eflcect and will, no doubt, result in a ready response. The Hawke's Bay Children 's Home is undenominational, and its doors are open to all children who require assistance. Any orphaned, neglected or destitute child or any child who through illness of parents is temporarily bereft of that care and attention so neeessary for its welfare is eligible for admission, and providing space is available and, income permits it, the trustees will continue to assist such cases. A house-to-house collection will be held on March 19 and 20, but it is not possible for the collectors to reach every resident of the distriet, and in inany cases the honseholder may be out when the collector calls. Sympathisers aTe, therefore, requested to forward donations by post to the treasurer, Mr. H, E. Edgley, Church Lane, Napier. Remittances should be made payable to the Hawke's Bay Children 's Home. All such donations will be acknowledged in the coiumns of the daily Press.
