W Alir U-lvUlxn.u , jja»u Qomplaints concerning th© inadequacy of the Otane water supply were referre'd to at the meeting of the Patangata County Council. Intorviewed this morning the Patangata County Council engineer, Mr J. C. McLaughlan, said that at the present tfme tb« Otane water supply was drawn from oleveh wells that wero put down following the earthquak'e in 1931. The wells supplied 9000 gallons of water to Otane residents daily, whxch was not enough. The present scheme was nevei meant to be a permanent one. It was certainly not a paying proposition as there were just over 30 consumers returning a revenue of £30 a year against the cost of £36. Two years ago, added Mr McLaughlan, the supply was considered inadequate and the council began investigations, but had not yet decided on an alternative.
