Monthly Meeting Held

TAKAPAU, Last Night. The monthly meeting of the Takapau braneh of the New Zealand Farmers ' Union was presided over by Mr. N. M. Tilley. Arrangements were mado for the branch to visit Smedley Estate on Wednesday, March 24, with the other branches in Southern Hawke's Bay. The question of selling rams at the .ram fair was again dealt with, but it was decided that littlo could be done at present, except that the hranch could be unanimous in their wish as to' the best method of selling and grading rams. Mr. N. M. Paulsen, chairman of tbo Waipawa Oounty Council, then gavo a talk ou couuty >niatLers, dealing with the history, povers and preseDt-day operatioDS of countios. He also spoke on the programme of the Waipawa Oounty Council and gave a descx-iptiou of what had been carried out recently. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Paulsen for his address. The Takapau Young Farmers' Club was presided over by Mr. Eay Edgecombe. There was an attendance of about 30 members and it was decided to visit Smedley Estate with the •members o"f the Farmers' Union. Two of the members, Messrs. W. Craig and Fox, gave very interesting addresses on the sowing of seed and pastures, after which a discussion was held, opeixing up the various vxews of the members present.
