Wairoa Applications Heard

WAIROA, Last JNignt. A two-day sitting of the No. 1 Licensing Authority in Wairoa coneluded yesterday. Mr P. J. Phelan, chairman of the authority presided. Mr C. Y. Chamberlain Tepresented most of the applicants, and Mr D. H. Withers appeared for the Wairoa Carriers' Assoeiation, and Mr D Schierning, district railway traffic 'manager at Wellington, watched the proceedings on behalf of the Railway Department. The following applications were granted: — ■ Estate of N. McN. Bowd (Nuhaka), continuous goods service licence in terms of the licence previously held by the operator. Transfer of licence from the estate of N. McN. Boyd to Messrs Gordon and Ronald Boyd. Messrs A. S. and H. Nattrass (Ruatahuna), continuous goods service licence for the Whakatane County. R. L. Nattrass (Ruatahuna), continuous goods service licence for the Rotorua, Whakatane and Wairoa counties (one authority); licence for the Rotorue, Whakatane and Wairoa counties for road material for the Public Works Department and local bodies (two authorities). S. N. Page (Mahia), continuous goods service licence for the Wairoa County, the operator to have the right to carry six or seven passengers to or from Mahia Peninsula from or to the Wairoa borough Application for an additional vehicie authority was also granted. T. H. Hall (Wairoa), continuous goods service licence for the Wairoa County. The transfer of licence from I. H. Kent to A. A. Mayo, was approved. R. Thomas (Wairoa), continuous goods service licence for Wairoa County. S. W. Howell (Wairoa), continuous goods sedvice licence for Wairoa County; Cook County for material and 1 equipment for Public Works Department only. J. Vale (Wairoa), continuous goods service licence for Wairoa County.
