Police Told to Investigate at Kaikoura

BLENHEIM, Last Night. Beports of excessive drinking at Kaikoura by men employed in Public Works camps, was referred to at a meeting of the Wairau Licensing Committee by the chairman, Mr T. E. Matffisell, S.M. Mr Maunsell said rumours had reaehed his ears that complaints had been made by travellera that excessive drinking by Public Works men was taking place at Kaikoura, He suggested that Sergeant Smyth, of Blenheim, should instruct the Kaikoura police to keep the matter under observation and report to the annual meeting of the committee whether excessive drinking wa* being permitted.
