LATEST FASHION TRENDS AT MANNEQUIN PARADE AT BLYTHES, NAPIER
Splendid organisation, mannequins with good deportment, excellent arrangements and display with the addition of a delicious tea, all played their part in the opening yesterday afternoon of a parade of autumn fashions presented in Blythes spacious tea Toom in Napier. Both lounge and tea room were filled to capaeity and the comprahensive display was very much enjoyed. Hairdressing and aecessories were well chosen to\suit the individul Btyle of the mannequin and the clothes displayed. ' The platform was draped with a pelmet and curtains of bright green satin, gold broche ones forming a background, and at each side of tb& opening a garden effect was giveu by an arrangement of natural red dahlias, jacobean lilies and giant nerines. The display was arranged in phasets as follows. Street and Afternoon Wear Models shown included a red woollen suit; green astrakhan coat with broad revers; a beige check tweed suit with dark jumper #nd hat to tone; a fancy blaek cloth coat collared in pointed fox; a pale nut brown "furline" coat with collar of deeper brown skunk fur. Very smart was a green armure tunic suit with it artistic trimming of cire braid. A petrol armure frock, one in Coronation blue and an exceedingly smart navy, finished with jet buttons from neck to hem, were also much admired. Millinery All hats were from the firm's large stock of imported models and, taken with those worn with coats and suits, revealed the new trend, "Tyrolean," being speeially featured, these including a real Austrian hat, the ribbon band embroidered with fir .trees and chamois. Other folt and velour hats were tucked, rolled, shovel and pinchedin types and a few smart toques with self bou trim. Most models had a feather trim, but fancy veiling was also used and quite novel on one was a miniature zip fastener — and, yes! — it worked and had tiny tassels at the end. Shades shown were navy, rust, black, petrol, green and the new amberglow, elose-fitting hats were smart with an edging of astrakhan. Liugerie Featured were crepe de chine American satin and pure silk broche in dainty sets revealing hand embroidery, lace and satin motifs appliqued, hand faggoting and roleaux finish. Covetable garments were a black celanese gown with satin cascade from shoulder to waist, where it was caught in a satin rose. One of mushroom pink was dainty, and the pale ciel blue celanese had lovely appliques of satin to tone. Bridge Wear
Featured models were a two tone reseda green tailored lace ensemble, the coatee having a yoke and swing back; a black satin skirt with graceful tunic of satin flowered in pink and oyster, — ear-rings, cigarette holder and bracelet were in jet; a moonlight blue taffetas showed a very full skirt and with a black frock of crepe was woru a tailored lace coat with period shoulders wired and finished with satin roleav. Eveaing Wear Most attractive in this bright display was the fuschia ring velvet with corded uasque revers. Also shown was a novel black and cyclamen gown, an ensemble in midnight blue velvet, the coatee draped, giving a blouse effect in front. Debutantes Wear l "Dainty" expresses the debutantes' wear, one of pink georgette with applied gold insertion; one of white satin and a charming net model with satin leaf appliques. A posy or wreath of natural flowers was a smart finish to each frock. Bridal Phase This was a popular conclusion and showed a departure from the traditional white, The bridal gown with its high cowled neckline and full bishop sleeves was of a bright satin in a cafe-au-lait shading; the long fishtail train was inlet into the skirt and Richelieu embroidered motifs of the satin were appliqued into train and bodice; speeially smart being the deep hand of shirring at the shoulders. The long veil toned and was arranged from a halo of same satin edged with seed pearls and finished with cluster of.' orange buds; the charming bouquet was a pretty contrast. Gorgeous is a fitting term for tbe maids' frocking. They wore tangerine net which incidentally is a good night shade. They were fashioned fitting to the kncos and falling extremely full to 1
the ground. The full peplums were needle-run at edges in tete de negre silk. Revers and belt were in same brown shade of taffetas stiffened with rows of Btitching. Each earried a posy to blend and wore a Dresden shepherdess type of headgear fashioned with a roleau of green and tangerine shot velvet wreathing the head and a mammoth fchaded flat rose worn well forward — « new and attractive ensemble. The parade will be staged again today.
