Unable to Alter Constitutional Position j OVERTURES REJECTED 4 (Eeceived 10, 8.45 a m.) CANBEERA, March 9. The Federal Cabinet to-day rejected all overtures by the Country Party to make further attempts to correct the constitutional position by preventing organised marketing in the Commonwealth. After a discussion lasting more than six hours the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. J. A. Lyons, issued a statement to-night wherein he said that as the constitution stands after last Saturday's referenda the Commonwealth Parliament is powerless to assist. The Prime Minister indicated that the Country Party had pressed for bounties payable either out of a special excise on dried fruits, butter, or from the . general revenue.
