MILK SCHEME
Activities in Britain The work of the National Ililk Publicity Couneil in stimulating the cojisumption of milk in Great Britain wa« referred to in a recent address by Mr. W. A. Hill, Milk Marketing Board'a publieity offieer. This year the Milk Publicity Couneil is expending an appropriation of about £120,000 on research and advertising. Milk advertising, said Mr. Hill, had to. be directed towards people who could alford toi buy more milk.
"Before coming tp. the Milk Boai'd, ' ' said Mr. Hill, "I speut years on the inside of newspapers, buf I had to get outside to realise what a powerful medium the newspaper is. The Press has taken the milk message into every home in the countryj it has awakened a national consciousness bfl milk." The £50,000 spent In the Press did not nearly represent the advertising revenue as a result; many products were advertised, milk being the basic theme, in national newspaper milk supplemqnts. The Press eampaign resulted in 100,000 milk recipes being devised by readers.—" World 's Press Newe."
