OHURAHURA-TE POHUE

The annual general meeting of the Ohurakura-Te Pohue Women's Institute was held on Friday, Mrs Elliott presidiug. Aftei the usual business was finished the election was held, which resulted in Mrs Brookes being unanimously elected president, Miss Juiian secretary, Mesdames Pothan and

Huglies vice-presidente, and Mrs Atkins, ticasurer, while the follow/ng were elected to the committee: Mesdames Adsetfc Elliott, Fairburn, K:ng and Johnson. During the afternoon Mrs Havord presented each of the retiring committee with a beautiful shoulder spray. The game "Telegrains," caused much amusement, Miss Juiian winning. Mrs Halstead, a visitor^ delighted everyone with her talk on ltarotonga, where she recently spent some months holidaying. The home competitions resulted as follows:...Te cosy: Mrs. Elliott 1, Mrs Hankin 2. Rock cakes: Mrs Elliott 1, Mesdames Atkins and Hankin 2. The retiring committee were hostesses and served a very dainty afternoon tea. Bowls of fuchsias. daisies, cosmos and asters decorated the tables, An enjoy able afternoon closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
