^ " Pukahu Meeting The annual meeting of the Pukahu Women's Iustftut© was held in the schoolroom on Saturday when Mrs Colville Lockie presided over a large atteridance of members and friends. In opening the meeting Mrs Lockie said how pleased she was to see so many members present, and extended a hearty welcome to all, mentioning especially the visitors Members were reminded that April would be the nionth for the collection of produce, food-stuffs, etc., for tho Hawke's Bay Children's Homes. Potutoes, for ihe competition, would ulso have to bo dug in April. Mrs Lockie also mentioned the visit of Mrs Kelso, Dominion organiser, who wodld hold a school for ofiicers on. Friday, March 12, in thc Village HaU, Havelock North. The annual report and balance slieet was read and adopted. Mrs Lockie. who did not seek re-election, spoke a few words before leaving the cliair, and was presented with a posy of flowers as a token of appreciation from members. Mrs Lang, retiring secretary, was also the recipient of a posy. Both Jadies re» ceived a hearty vote of thanks. The election of officers resulted: Mrs L. W. Goldfinch, president; Miss Tiena Orchard, secretary j Mrs Harold Evans, tr£asUrer; Mesdames Cummins, Lean, Lang, Brooks, Liyingstone} Crawford and Miss Kirkham; committee; Mrs Lang, in charge of competitions ; Mjs Cummins, tea convenor; Mrs .Evans, llowers; Mrs H. Gveen, librarian. A vote was t'aken aud it was decided to change the meeting day to the third Thursday-in the month. The next meeting is to bo on April 15, at which the competitions would be three plaiu scones and the best article made from one yard of Britway. There would also be a competition for the best fiower in. the garden every month, a prize to be given for most points througih the year. A trophy presented by Mrs Goldfinch for the most points gained in the competitions throughout the year was won by Mrs Cummins, Mrs Lang and Mrs Goldfinch beihg equal second. A musical parcel game was played, and won by Mrs. J- Johnstone. Miss Thelma Peterson's beautiful voice was heard to advantage in two songs which were much appreciated- Two new members, Mrs Manning and Mrs Wakefield, were heartily welcomed. The competitions, judged by Mrs A. Lockie and Mrs. ©. Lockie were as follow: Fiower shoulder spray. Miss Clara Lang 1, Mrs Kirkham 2, Mrs Goldfinch 3; best needlework finished this year; Mrs C. Lean 1, Mrs Lang 2, Mrs H. Green 3. The meeting was concluded by singing the National Anthem.
